I recently bought my first ever car, a 1995 VW Jetta. It has a Thule rack on the roof, whether it's a bike rack or a ski rack.... I want it off. It looks as if it needs a key - the previous owner didn't have a key and I couldn't find it. Should I just drill it out? At that point the rack is ruined, but is it even worth any money anyway?|||I would recommend going with the previous poster's advice, as the key will not only maintain the quality of your roof and of the rack itself, but it will also leave you with the option of reattaching the roof rack at a later point if you need it.
...because let's face it: there's not a ton of room inside those Jettas...
So contact your local VW dealer, and if they are unable to help then drop by the Thule website (listed below) and get in touch with them to obtain a replacement key.|||hello. there must be a key. call up Thule, and the VW dealership to locate it. good luck. when I skiied, I carried my skiis inside the boot (Mazda 626, rear seat folded down by half)
